Virtual Volunteers – How to Involve Volunteers Remotely

How to make the most of volunteers who love your people, but need to stay home, or have transportation issues? According to VolunteerNow (volnow.org), only 2% of organizations say that volunteerism for them is “business as usual.”  With health and safety concerns, many helping hands are missing for now.  But that needn’t be the case! 

Here are some great ideas for including folks in your ongoing mission: 

In relation to health and safety, volunteers can, even now–

·      Gather supplies and personal protective equipment for those who are working in-person

·      Interface with law enforcement, health officials, and others to learn and communicate updates

·      Research practices such as staggered schedules and check-in processes in similar organizations and monitor where others are having successes or problems
